NAWCJ

JANUARY MEMBER NEWS

  • NAWCJ OUTREACH CALL TO ACTION

As part of NAWCJ’s effort to expand outreach across the nation, we are making a request for all members to assist in this expansion. During a recent meeting of the collaboration committee and a subsequent Board meeting there was much discussion regarding participation in the various state educational conferences.  To that point, we are requesting members of the NAWCJ to reach out to these various entities to offer NAWCJ’s participation in these conferences.  That participation could include panel discussions similar to our multi-state session, presentations on specific subjects pending in particular states, etc.

We are also requesting feedback from members interested in serving as speakers.  I will be maintaining a list of those willing to serve, their subject matter interest, and their availability.

Please direct any interest to me at sbeck@wcc.sc.gov.

  • CONGRATULATIONS

The members of the NAWCJ extend congratulations to the following judges who were selected for the College of Workers’ Compensation for the class of 2021: Hon. Joseph DeRita (PA), Justice Noma Gurich (OK), Hon. Diane Lundeen (LA) and Hon. Jimese Sherrill (VA).

  • UPCOMING EVENTS

Current members and prospective members, unfortunately, we weren’t able to meet up this past August for the Judicial College.  But all is not lost.  The good news is you don’t have to wait until next year’s College to participate in several educational opportunities and interactive social events with your fellow NAWCJ colleagues.  Keep your eyes open because the NAWCJ has lots in store for you.  In March, we have the New Judges’ Boot Camp, but we are also planning mini sessions throughout the year for all NAWCJ adjudicators.  And, how about getting to know your colleagues better?  Plans are underway to bring you virtual “Ten Minutes” sessions with adjudicators from across the country.  Due to the Pandemic, all sessions will be virtual, but we’re all pros at these virtual platforms by now, right? Stay tuned for more NAWCJ opportunities coming soon.
