The ABA’s Workers’ Compensation and Employers’ Liability Conference was held on March 4th and 5th in New Orleans and our members both participated as presenters and as honorees as new Fellows in the College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers.

The education sessions during the day and a half conference were top notch and were thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended in person. Topics included a report on the Anniversary of the National Commission on State Workers’ Compensation Laws, Gig Economy Challenges, Challenges for Female Trial Attorneys, Case Law Review, Implicit Bias, as well as difficulties with delayed treatment in compensation cases.

Members of the NAWCJ were front and center in many of the presentations and those who were presenters in the various sessions are as follows: Judge Shannon Bruno Bishop (LA), Judge John Lazzara, retired (FL), Judge David Langham (FL), Director Sheral Kellar, (LA), and Judge LuAnn Haley (AZ).

On Saturday night, the CWCL inducted new Fellows from the Class of 2022, as well as Fellows from the class of 2021 who were unable to attend the induction ceremony in Orlando.  The following judges were honored from the class of 2022: Knowrasa Patrick, Program Manager of the Self Insurance Agency and former judge in WA, and Judge Catrice Johnson-Reid (LA). From the class of 2021 the following judges were inducted into the CWCL that evening as well: Judge Diane Lundeen (LA), Judge Jimese Sherrill (VA), Judge Joseph DeRita (PA).

Congratulations to all new Fellows of the CWCL!
